Formula One had 445m viewers in 2021, a slight increase on the shortened 2020 season
Official audience figures released by Formula One show a slight increase to 445m for the 2021 season, a growth of 2.7% on the 433m achieved in 2020. The cumulative audience for the season was 1.55bn, up 4% on 2020.
The results might be disappointing to F1 owners Liberty in the context of the additional four races (+24%) run in 2021 compared to the 2020 season which was impacted by Covid-19. Three Grands Prix were also also held in the Americas in 2021.
Audience numbers jumped in 2018 after a long period of decline, but have stagnated since then.
