The Italian office will be regulated by CONSOB and will form the European hub for the business of Tifosy Capital & Advisory.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for a Legal & Compliance Officer to join our Italian office. In this role you will work with all areas of the business, helping ensure that Tifosy complies with applicable laws and regulations, and supporting the Italian office in navigating strategic transactions and the world of regulated financial services. The role will be based in Milan and will be a full time position reporting directly to the Managing Director of the Italian office. Your employment contact will be held with the Italian subsidiary of Tifosy which is regulated by CONSOB, but your role will be supported by the wider team in London and have an indirect reporting line into the firm’s Chief Legal Officer, based in the UK.
WHAT YOU WILL DO?
This is a varied role in a newly established and dynamic office. The role will provide you with exposure to all areas of the business. As part of this role:
- you will support the Managing Director and wider team in the provision of M&A and other financial advisory services to clubs and investors;
- you will be a first point of contact across the Italian business for legal and compliance issues. This will mean that you will need to develop a commercial understanding of the Tifosy Capital & Advisory group and communicate effectively with people in other business functions;
- you will be responsible for ensuring that legal, investment and pitch documentation (including information published on the investment platform) produced by the Italian office adheres to the highest standards;
- you will manage contractual relationships for the Italian office and legal risk with suppliers, partners and other third parties;
- you will perform compliance monitoring activities across the Italian business. You will work with the team in London and with our compliance advisors to ensure the office adheres to financial promotion regulations, know-your-client and anti-money laundering regulations and keeps up to date on regulatory changes;
- you will maintain the relationship with the regulator by working with our compliance advisors to complete reporting and to keep up with regulatory updates;
- you will lead on new legal and regulatory projects impacting the business, such as responding to changes in the regulatory regime and working with executive management; and
- you will support our product, design and technology development team in London in ensuring that new and existing products are both compliant and optimised to ensure business impact within the regulations.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
- A qualified corporate lawyer – you will have 3 to 5 years post-qualification experience and have trained in a top-tier corporate law firm.
- Experience with transactions and client management – you will support the Managing Director and wider Tifosy team in advisory mandates and take responsibility for NDAs, proposals, engagement letters etc. as well as providing input on legal structures and commercial terms.
- Understanding of financial securities and ability to manage compliance requirements – working with our compliance advisers, you will have day-to-day responsibility for our compliance as an Italian investment firm (Società di intermediazione mobiliare) regulated by CONSOB.
- Ability to work in a demanding and fast-paced entrepreneurial environment – you will have an adaptable and flexible approach and assist with the establishment and growth of our Italian office. You will be able to manage your own time and work on a number of projects and tasks at one time.
- A self-starter and a problem-solver – you will be able to use your initiative to put in place processes and collaborate with teams across the business including our finance and tech teams.
- Interested in all matters sports and finance – you will have a genuine interest in the sports finance industry and an enthusiasm for the changing landscape of finance, technology and M&A.
- Communication skills – you will be fluent in Italian and English with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- you will directly support the Managing Director and be responsible for matters including, creating and analysing financial models, creating and preparing client presentations and scheduling and attending meetings;
- you will be responsible for producing sports and financial industry research, benchmarking and investment presentations and for ensuring that documentation produced by the Italian office adheres to the highest standards;
- you will conduct due diligence and assist with M&A and financing transactions, helping to drive the transaction process from origination to execution and closeout;
- you will support our product, design and technology development team in London and assist with the management of investment transactions occurring on the Tifosy investment platform (including reviewing marketing promotions, platform onboarding processes and providing support and Q&A to investors);
- you will be responsible for daily administrative tasks including accounting and record keeping for the Italian office (creating invoices, purchase orders, bank payments, reconciliations and providing support to our accountants and auditors); and
- you will work closely with the Legal and Compliance Officer for the Italian office and assist with issues including KYC/AML reporting, management and on internal financial reporting. This will mean that you will need to develop a commercial understanding of the Tifosy Capital & Advisory group and communicate effectively with people in other business functions.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
- Professional experience – you will have 2 – 4 years’ experience in financial services, ideally in TMT, and have trained in a top-tier investment bank or other financial services business.
- Strong quantitative and technical abilities – you will be experienced in financial modelling, accounting and creating presentations. You will also have a robust financial and analytical skill set and an outstanding academic record.
