Premier League matchday and commercial revenues projected to reach 8-year high

2019/20 saw the first fall in the Premier League’s top line since its launch in the 1992/93 season. Total club revenue was down £650m due to the impact of restrictions imposed by Covid-19, which primarily impacted matchday income as games were played behind closed doors.

A strong recovery is projected for the 2021/22 season, however, with both matchday and commercial revenues expected to reach record levels. Clubs are reportedly placing renewed focus on commercial income to insulate themselves as much as possible from future impacts to revenues directly related to matches.
