Realising a vision and determination she held from the age of 15, Sharon Brittan became the owner of a professional football club when she and her consortium, Football Ventures, rescued Bolton Wanderers from administration in August 2019.

Following the appointment of Ian Evatt, one of the country’s most exciting young managers in the summer of 2020, Bolton Wanderers Football Club has risen from League Two to the cusp of Championship football with a place in the League One play-offs, whilst also winning the Papa Johns Trophy – the club’s first piece of national silverware since 1989.

Away from the pitch, Sharon and her fellow board members, Michael James and Nick Luckock, have built bridges with the local and business community to position Bolton Wanderers at the heart of the town once again.

Working in an industry that sometimes creates headlines for the wrong reasons, Sharon has fostered a friendly and familial culture and created a welcoming environment that is challenging the paradigm.

Neil Hart

CEO

Neil Hart

CEO

The 2023/24 season will see Neil Hart enter his 23rd consecutive season working in professional football.

A seasoned football executive, Neil began his career in the industry at Luton Town where he spent five years working in coaching and education roles before joining Watford FC in 2005 and working his way up to taking the helm as Head of Community for an eight-year tenure.

Neil then relocated back home to the North West in 2014 when he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Burnley FC in the Community, the official charity of the Clarets.

Tasked with rebuilding and re-establishing the organisation up from the ground, Neil oversaw the growth of Burnley FC in the Community into a high-impact, multi-million-pound organisation employing over 100 staff members and the recipient of eight North West Football Awards, including Premier League Community Club of the Year for four years running.

Neil then spent 14 months as the Chief Executive Officer of Burnley FC itself, navigating the Club through the Covid-19 pandemic and the arrival of new American owners before departing amicably in early 2021 to take some time out from the game.

But not for long – Bolton Wanderers soon presented a new and exciting challenge and in July 2021, Neil took office as the Club’s Chief Executive Officer.

And over the last two years, Neil has played a leading role in rebuilding the Whites off the pitch into a stable, more sustainable, and stronger organisation.

In the last season alone, the Club has secured record-breaking commercial deals, the highest season ticket numbers since the Premier League days and an EFL Award for Fan Engagement.

With a strong commercial acumen and expert knowledge of the industry, Neil maintains an ethos of community-first in all Club decision making and is a proud Trustee of Bolton Wanderers in the Community.

Ian Evatt

Manager

Ian Evatt

Manager

Ian Evatt began his career as a professional footballer with Derby County when he made his senior debut for The Rams in a home game against Ipswich Town in the Premier League in 2001.

A tall, central defender, Ian also played for Chesterfield, Queens Park Rangers and Blackpool during a playing career that saw him make over 600 first team appearances.

During his time at Blackpool, he featured in the club’s inaugural Premier League campaign and amassed over 200 games for the Seasiders during his spell there.

After calling time on his 17-year playing career at Chesterfield, where he had captained the Club to the League Two title in his second spell there, he was given the managerial reigns on caretaker basis following the departure of Jack Lester.

In the summer of 2018, he was appointed manager of Barrow and in his second season he returned the Club to the Football League for the first time in 48 years. His record at the Club was exceptional and in his 89 games as manager, he won 40 of them.

He won plaudits for the style of football Barrow played in winning promotion out of the National League and it was no surprise that he attracted the interest of many League clubs.

Bolton Wanderers came calling and on July 1, 2020, he was unveiled by the Club and charged with the task of getting them out of League Two and he guided Wanderers to automatic promotion at the first attempt, following a remarkable run of form.

Playing aesthetically pleasing football and rebuilding the Club’s reputation within the town, Wanderers have gone from strength to strength under his tutelage.

In their first season back in League One, Wanderers finished a respectable ninth in the table, whilst during the following season, the current campaign, he has led them to a place in the play-off semi-finals against Barnsley whilst also winning their first piece of national silverware since 1989 when they demolished League One champions Plymouth Argyle 4-0 in front of a packed Wembley Stadium to lift the Papa Johns Trophy in April.
