New Newcastle United owners account for 80% of Premier League owners' wealth

At $430bn, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund - the new majority owner of Newcastle United - accounts for over 80% of all Premier League club owners’ wealth combined. The next wealthiest owner is Manchester City’s Sheikh Mansour of Abu Dhabi at ca. $20bn.

The prospect of heavy investment into Newcastle in the short term via sponsorship deals has receded with the passing of a new Premier League regulation requiring all commercial agreements involving related parties to be submitted to the league board for approval.

Financial fair play rules will also limit the new owners' ability to invest into the squad in a bid to move clear of the relegation spots.
